today was a successful cat spotting (and petting) day
these are just some of them there were too many
#this is a short path from the train station through the tiny town and to the port that should take about 15 minutes#but as soon as i get to the section that runs between the shore and a small forest i HAVE to stop and pet every single cat i encounter#and there are a LOT of them living there.#and i must pet every single one#basically what should be a 15min bike ride takes me about half an hour and i end up being late#because i’m SUPPOSED to set sail at like 10am but there are just too many kitties#and all of them are asking me to pet them with their eyes and their tiny little noses#so what else am i supposed to do#god i love cats#the best part about life is that sometimes there is a kitty#cat spotting#cats#kitties#stray cats#wild cats#i eat mold#my life#ig#i love sailing i love the sea and i love cats

One hour and 30 minutes on the completely stopped broken train. The conducter has long since stopped trying to update us. He doesn't know either. Maintenance is 'coming soon'. They've been coming soon for an hour. I live here now. The train is my home. Current rations: one packet of ready salted crisps, a pot of smores cereal I picked up on a whim from Pound Land, and a bottle of water.

on my knees crying and begging for the uk railways to be renationalised... I can't keep living like this.......
#my mum was saying how when she was younger she'd get the train everywhere and never even consider whether they wouldn't be running#now between limited services and strikes it's like you're lucky if there even is a train running and even then it's probably delayed#and also it costs £100#i live by one of the best connected stations in my area and under 20mins train from a major city it should not be hard to get everywhere!!!!#last time i went to a concert (in aforementioned major city) we had to drive to another town and go from there#because there weren't any late trains#then this weekend we're going to london (like 1.5hrs) and the earliest train gets in at 12:30????? so we have to drive#then the next weekend is eras in liverpool so i checked the train option#and the latest train back is at 7pm??? on a saturday night??????? i hate it here i need the tories OUT#talking

this district i'm applying to has schools very close to an amtrak station and i'm laughing at how wildly different my grandpa's and dad's reactions are to me wanting to take the train there
grandpa: wow that's great! amtrak is great! my friend would take business trips all the time to san jose on that route and it was very convenient for her. you should get a foldable bike. here's a link to a foldable bike that i recommend! the freeway is absolutely horrible, so i'm glad this is an option.
dad: um. i would rather drive. ((but it's cheaper and faster to take the train!)) yeah but idk... you have to sit next to other people... what if they're weird? :/
#car brain is a disease#but not hereditary i guess#by faster i mean: the freeway is 60-90 minutes while the train ride is 35mins#yeah there's some extra time needed for me to bike or drive to the train station so at most it totals like 50-60mins#and by cheaper... the price of gas would faaaaaaaar outpace the cost of a monthly pass between the two stations#so it's still worth it even when i already have a car and pay for insurance and whatnot

I keep meaning to watch mayfair witches too
I could only watch about two episodes of Mayfair Witches. It's not good. The chemistry is so terrible it's like anti-chemistry. And Daddario isn't a bad actress (I enjoyed her in White Lotus and the Shirley Jackson adaptation) but she's terribly miscast here.
I have heard that, haha, but I am curious enough to check it out. I was raised on Charmed so I have a high tolerance for campy nonsensical witchy tv!

Today marks the 20th anniversary of what still is the worst terrorist attack in Europe's history. Today marks the 20th anniversary of one of those days that I can't forget. I don't know what I ate last week, but I do remember clearly what happened that morning. Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Madrid bombings, 3 bombings that killed almost 200 people and injured more than 2000, bombings that happened really close to home. I know people who died, I know people that survived. Today is the 20th year that I don't take the train on March 11th. Today, as every other year, we don't forget.

My story of the week is how I went outside to touch grass, bc I felt let down by not being able to watch Sam Claflin's new film bc it's not showing anywhere in UK, so much so that I considered ending my fan-ship, only to be, while outside touching grass, faced with a street sign that said Dimples Lane. (It's in Haworth, West Yorkshire, if anyone wants to check it out on a map.) As @jesstasticvoyage privately told me, I just cannot escape him. Maybe not just a humble street sign, but a sign from the universe?
#life and times#sam claflin#samblogging#time will only tell#maybe i will turn this into a story. as in i will write it#but it's really so funny on every level#funny thing is also that i saw that lane on google maps once but then i forgot about it#and i didn't decide to go to haworth until i was on a tram#i still hesitated between that and another place i've meant to check out#i'd already been to haworth#but i just got off the tram at victoria station and so i took the train to hebden bridge from where you get bus to haworth#(for that other place i'd need to go to piccadilly station)#also i came across dimples lane first & then turned back and went to the moors another way#then i almost got lost on the moors & got out a different way i came in. the different way led me by that very sign#so i knew where i was and found my way back#it was a sign in more than one way lol#an adventure now that i think about it#anyway go out and touch grass. best therapy cannot stress this enough#mypost
